OUR SOLE
FOR A NEW ERA

The Air Force 1 cemented a wide cultural footprint in sneaker history. From Harlem streets to Paris runways, the AF1 made sports more accessible and became a style icon. To celebrate the cultural connection of the AF1, we've airdropped 106,543 Our Force 1 Posters to members of our social impact and diversity, equity, and inclusion communities as well as .SWOOSH members selected at random. Introducing the Our Force 1 Poster Collection.

4 POSTERS

How it works

Earlier this year, the .SWOOSH community voted on some of their favorite AF1s of all time. The community's selections were commemorated with four virtual OF1 Posters representing the Cultural, Heritage, Innovation, and Regional brackets.
A total of 106,453 OF1 Posters were airdropped to .SWOOSH members on 4/18/2023. Each .SWOOSH member had about a 1 in 3 chance of securing a poster. These posters unlock First Access to the upcoming OF1 collection where members can purchase one OF1 Box. All .SWOOSH members will be able to participate in the General Access sale, which directly follows the First Access sale a few days later—for all remaining inventory.

Details

Anyone with a .SWOOSH ID by 3:00pm EST on 4/12/2023 was eligible for a chance to receive one of four OF1 Posters. A portion of posters were prioritized for members of our social impact and diversity, equity, and inclusion communities as well as in-person attendees at .SWOOSH Sessions and #YourForce1 Challenge participants.

AN UNSTOPPABLE FORCE

The AF1 put Force on the map. But the people made them stay there.

The AF1 debuted on the basketball court in October 1982. A Nike ad starring NBA great, Moses Malone, premiered. And just like that, the AF1 became a smash hit among NYC ballers. Despite early success on the court, sales didn’t translate off the court and Nike nearly discontinued the AF1.
But sneakerheads in Baltimore, DC, and Philly used their expressive style to give the AF1 a second life. Their creation of custom color combinations made the AF1 a global statement. Fast forward, the song ‘Air Force Ones’ dropped, starting a wave that never stopped.
Today, the AF1 is a phenomenon that transcends sports and pop culture—connecting generations of Nike fans. Those moments inspired us to empower the .SWOOSH community and let you vote on the AF1s that we brought to life in the Our Force 1 collection.
Saluting the AF1’s legacy is important to us, so we created the OF1 Poster collection, featuring some of the greatest AF1s voted on by the .SWOOSH community. On 4/18/23, we airdropped posters to members of our social impact and diversity, equity, and inclusion communities as well as .SWOOSH members selected at random. The future has arrived.
THE VISIONARY BEHIND THE AF1

Created by the legendary Nike designer, Bruce Kilgore, the AF1 was innovated to endure the rigors of NBA basketball. Cutting-edge air sole technology provided impact cushioning and a new “pivot point” outsole that enabled players to cut, jump, and land in a shoe with increased stability and traction—a game changer on and off the court.

VINTAGE NIKE POSTERS: A SLAM DUNK

In the ‘80s, Nike posters were plastered everywhere, from barbershops to dorm rooms. They were in-your-face cultural icons that highlighted legendary sneakers and era-defining sport moments. That’s why we created virtual posters to capture that magic for .SWOOSH members.

TRANSCENDENT IMPACT

Staying power is an understatement. The AF1 is a resonant piece, connecting with generation after generation. But, above all, the AF1 is a canvas for the imagination. It’s been redesigned, rebuilt, and re-energized time after time—yet always loved.
